Sex between husband and wife is not just to achieve satisfaction. Various studies say that routine sex can also be beneficial to health, including mental health.

Martha Lee, MD, clinical sexologist called when making love, humans emit real emotions. Therefore, having sex has a lot to do with a person's psychological aspects.

"The energy produced during lovemaking is the impact of the health condition in a coherent way. Not only physical problems but also mental health," Lee said, quoted from the Huffington Post.

Then, what are the benefits of sex for mental health? Here's Lee's explanation.

1. Relieve stress
A study published in the journal Biological Psychology found that sex can relieve stress.

This is because during orgasm, humans release endorphins which cause happiness.

2. Increase confidence
Research published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior calls routine sex can increase self-confidence while making a person more positive about him.

This happens because when you make love, you get attention, love and feel desired by your partner.

3. Get intimacy with your partner
There is a reason why couples who rarely make love look intimate. This is because the rare physical touch that occurs between partners makes their psychological relationship tenuous.

When making love and orgasm, the body secretes endorphins and happy hormones. That way, intimacy between partners is maintained.

4. Improve sleep quality
The importance of sleep quality is no longer in doubt. Well, the routine of making love makes the body full of the sleepy hormone oxytocin.

Oxytocin is released by the body together with endorphins. This combination of feeling of happiness and relaxation is the reason why after making love many couples feel sleepy.
