Apple officially announced it will close iTunes services this year. This announcement was made by Apple at the WWDC 2019 event after it was widely heard that the service would be closed.

For this reason, Apple has prepared an iTunes replacement service. Quoted from CNBC, Friday (7/6) Apple will replace iTunes with three separate applications for Mac users.

So, Mac users will have a special application to access music, podcasts, and TV. This concept is similar to the one on the iPhone now.

The closure of iTunes will begin with the release of MacOS Catalina, the latest operating system from Apple. The plan, this operating system will debut before the end of 2019.

Nevertheless, Apple ensures that content that has been downloaded by users through iTunes will not be affected by this closure. Users can still access all of the content.

"Users can still access the entire music library, both from downloaded songs, purchased, including those copied from CDs," the company said in a statement.

However, iTunes users on Windows do not need to worry, because Apple ensures this change does not apply to the Microsoft operating system. The use of the iTunes Store gift card is certainly still valid.

Apple said the decision to turn off iTunes because of the focus of its services that were too large and not according to the initial purpose.

According to the company, iTunes was initially used as a mixing and burning service for songs on Mac, but now the service has too many functions.

In addition, the company now also has Apple Music which is called having faster and better performance. Different from iTunes performance which is considered to be slowing down.

For your information, iTunes itself was announced 18 years ago or more precisely January 9, 2001. iTunes services also become synonymous with Apple.

iOS loyal fans use this application for various things, such as buying music, videos, books, synchronizing with iOS devices, and much more.

But over time, Apple included a variety of features into the company's flagship application and made many iOS users complain.
