Like a mystery, the Corona COVID-19 virus unceasingly surprises the medical world. Recently some patients who have been infected with the disease reported that they had felt symptoms such as skin 'sizzling' or the flow of electricity in their bodies, causing a burning sensation.
Quoted from the New York Post, Head of Communicable Diseases at ProHealth Care Associates, Dr. Daniel Griffin said the 'hissing' condition was not a common symptom that occurs in patients, but it was likely caused by an antibody reaction to the virus.
"Obviously it has been identified, but we are not sure yet and there may be several reasons for that happening. That feeling may be the result of antibodies that fight disease and interfere with the way nerves work," Griffin said.
Meanwhile, according to the Clinical Director in Pack Health services, Dr. Vipul Shah, the sensation can also be associated with a person's fever habits.
"If people aren't used to having a fever, maybe their skin really feels like an electric sensation," Shah explained.
But until now symptoms such as 'hissing' is not yet known with certainty the cause, and Shah also suggested using aloe vera gel or lotion to reduce the burning sensation on the skin.
